RETURNING for a second year as Main Sponsors of #UKCharityWeek, Sinclair Method UK Ltd is excited by the opportunity to help make the 2022 campaign as BIG as possible!
Rising like our logo’s phoenix from the ashes of the charity and previous Charity Today award winner, C3 Foundation Europe, Sinclair Method UK provides counselling support and an innovative treatment solution for those who are experiencing problematic drinking – The Sinclair Method.
During our time as a charity, we experienced both the highs and the lows of running a charity and the many challenges involved in keeping up with legislation and fulfilling our responsibilities as Trustees. The incredible highs included receiving a National Lottery grant to further our work and as mentioned, being the immensely proud winner of a Charity Today national award. And then came the biggest low – having to close our charity due to Covid 19-related loss of funding – which was soul-destroying after the 5 years of effort that went into building our organisation.
What those years did do, however, was provide a unique and lasting insight into just how hard charities work, which is a big part of why we want to continue to be involved in the charity sector, sponsoring such events as #UKCharityWeek.
Over the coming months, we will be sharing more with you about what we do and the people we have helped. But for now, let us introduce you to the team and put faces to the names:
Joanna Duyvenvoorde S.A.C., Dip (pictured above left)
Joanna, who was a founder and Trustee of C3 Foundation Europe which she ran in cooperation with Moyra and the American actress, Claudia Christian, has been involved in supporting people with Alcohol Use Disorder for almost 8 years. Joanna is an accredited Substance Abuse Counsellor with additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Adrian Duyvenvoorde S.A.C., Dip (pictured above top right)
Adrian was not involved with C3 Foundation Europe, but as Joanna’s brother, saw the huge personal reward that comes from helping others to recover from alcohol misuse.
He also parlayed his keen interest in cycling into becoming a volunteer SkyRide cycle Ride Leader, organising council-funded cycle rides in nature for experienced and inexperienced riders alike. Sadly, funding cutbacks meant that the local funding of SkyTeam rides was not renewed, but Adrian’s enduring desire to contribute led to him qualifying as an accredited Substance Abuse Counsellor before taking up his current role with Sinclair Method UK.
Moyra Gough (pictured above bottom right)
Moyra, like Joanna, was a Trustee of C3 Foundation Europe and her prior experience of working with volunteer organisations, such as Relate, made her instrumental in its success. Since the charity’s closure, Moyra has applied her talents to helping guide Sinclair Method UK and raising awareness of this treatment in the Netherlands, where she currently lives.
Huge credit is also due to the following doctors and pharmacies without whom Sinclair Method UK could not operate and who provide medical advice throughout our clients’ recovery and dispense the medication required for The Sinclair Method:
Dr Janey Merron MB ChB, MRCGP, DRCOG, Dip. Med. Ed.
Dr Rachael Jolley, MBChB, MRCGP
Dr Wisam Tatari, Dpharm, Mpharm, Clin.Dip, Ipresc
Drugs 4 Delivery (Grimsby)
McKays Pharmacy (Belfast)
